What we like, what we do & bump into

Twitter launches its own web analytics

The Twitter Network has counted in 2011 over 200 million accounts and if you’re one of those who have one, than this article will certainly make you happy!

Whether we like it or not, we must be aware of the fact that the Social Media plays an important part in regards to the success of web sites. Not long ago we spoke about the influence of user generated content on SEO and now, one of the most popular social networks draws  our attention on the influence that social networks have in relation with the traffic generated on web sites, launching a new useful app.

Twitter

Twitter is launching the Twitter Web Analytics app which will provide companies with info regarding the efficiency of integrating Twitter in their web sites. Mainly, the app wants to clarify three aspects: how much content of the users web site is posted on Twitter, how much traffic Twitter generates and, also, how well the Tweet buttons work.

The app resembles Google Analytics but is centered on the Twitter activity. The app will show the client the number of Tweets about the content of his web site, which Tweets generated most traffic and which Tweets were most shared.

The web app is still in beta version and it’s free. In a few weeks, Twitter promises to make it available for all web site holders, at the time being  tested by only a small group of partners, and also, to develop an API for web developers.

The Social Media’s influence cannot be denied anymore, but, it’s a good thing we have the necessary tools to control it, or at least incline it in our favor.

SEO and the influence of user generated content

We all know that SEO is an elaborate process that involves devotion, patience and, why not flair. Competition analysis, keywords analysis, establishing landing pages and even offline optimization require attention to details and need to be done carefully, without tricking the Google bots, but making the most out of every resource in order to get the best results.

Of course, there are some steps that need to be followed when we optimize a web site, but, just following thoroughly these steps won’t necessarily guarantee the estimated results. Every SEO specialist has an ace up his sleeve that uses in order to defeat competition. Even so, there is a certain point where the efforts of SEO specialists cease and begins the influence of the uncertain online environment.

An important issue to be taken into account, according to a mashable.com article, is the influence of user generated content on SEO results. Google+ is further more proof of the fact that Google values more and more the input of users when it indexes, ranks and presents relevant info to consumers.

The reviews and comments of users about a certain web site, the links towards them, all of these elements influence SEO results, as the infamous +1 button, that most web sites incorporated and is being five more and more importance by Google, also does, such as we foresaw in a previous article.

Thus, the solution for a great SEO almost writes itself: besides the classic steps that should be followed, it’s highly important for the web sites to improve and increase the reviews and comments of their clients. What would Steve Jobs think about UGC for Google?

Google’s +1 Button extended Globally

If lately you’ve had the curiosity of visiting our web sites you probably noticed something new, namely, the Google +1 button.

For those who are not familiarized with this app, the Google +1 button represents the means through which, publicly, you rank certain web sites, products or articles on the web as interesting or worth visiting. Thus, you can receive recommendations from your friends or you can send them yours. The necessary condition is, for you to have an e-mail address at Gmail and all of your friends in your address book.

Working mainly on the same principle as Facebooks „Like” button, Google +1 button helps your friends find easyer, in the large sea of results, those that are worth taken into account, and this works both ways.

Nick Radicevic, Google Product Manager, said on Google’s AdSense Blog: „Today, +1’s will start appearing on Google search pages globally. We’ll be starting off with sites like google.co.uk, google.de, google.jp and google.fr, then expanding quickly to most other Google search sites soon after.”

We’ll follow with excitement the evolution of Google +1, especially, due to its high potential in influencing SEO results, a service that we provide for our clients.
